The food supplement AMCP (Modified Citrus Pectin) contains a concentrate of the valuable nutrient. It is fractionated, heat- and pH-modified pectin: a complex polysaccharide that is extracted from the peel and pulp of citrus fruits. Results from smaller preclinical and clinical studies with modified citrus pectin also indicate an inhibition of metastasis formation. AMCP is also rich in galactose residues, especially β-galactose, which was able to mimic tumor-binding proteins in the test. Further studies are needed to confirm these effects.
